Taunglea is a creative leader with several years of successful leadership, relationship development, and project management experience, directing complex projects and business initiatives. Taunglea sets a tremendous example of what it means to provide economic opportunity in Africa and the many ways in which our community can partner to give back. Her most recent accomplishment is a project with the RLJ Companies to build the world renowned Kendeja Resort & Villas in Liberia.
Two years ago, Mr. Robert L. Johnson, Founder and Chairman of The RLJ Companies, attended the Clinton Global Initiative where he made a commitment to mobilize $30 million for Liberia after hearing President Johnson-Sirleaf appeal to the American private sector for support for her government’s national reconstruction efforts. President Sirleaf emphasized the need to revitalize Liberia’s private sector, so that it could become an engine of development — specifically for job creation, skills enhancement, and revenue generation. Upon his return to Liberia, Mr. Johnson pursued a new opportunity to a build a hotel by collaborating with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation to build a 76-room villa style hotel on 13-acres of ocean front property in the Paynesville section of Monrovia to develop, the RLJ Kendeja Resort & Villas.
Taunglea Ambroise has managed the design, development, construction, functional operations, and soft opening of RLJ Kendeja Resort and Villas. She has led a cross-functional team of designers, architects, general contractor, local subcontractors and vendors to develop and implement luxury hotel standards in a self-sustaining property. Additionally, Taunglea managed the global procurement of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and operating supplies in China, the United States, and in South Africa.
Under the umbrella of her company, TMS Consulting, Taunglea serves as the liaison to the Liberian government and to its infrastructure providers. In this capacity, she works diligently to ensure economic development in the area by leading vendor selection and contract negotiations for the hotel.
The consulting firm is just one endeavor of this multi-talented young lady. Taunglea is also a senior manager at Hewlett Packard where she serves as the System Integrator Program Manager. She is responsible for the development and implementation of the Global Alliance Investment Program for technology development on leading global, cross-functional teams.
This proud mother of two resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, James.
